Thank you to everyone who helped us to welcome well over a thousand new users during our Frienduary campaign. The average BetterPoints user's sustainable trips last year saved approximately 50kg of carbon dioxide emissions. If our new friends all ditch the car for greener trips over the next year, our impact will be huge!
We are delighted to congratulate our Frienduary Star, Iain from Falkirk, who very kindly shared his picture and a few words about his experience of BetterPoints:
I first heard about the BetterPoints app from Falkirk FC's social media and I signed up back in December. I was lucky enough to win a signed shirt, which I'm hoping to get framed.
Since using the app I'm varying my transport a lot more. The free bus pass is a big boon and I'm only a kilometre from town so it's an easy walk. I'm very aware of climate change and have had an electric car for four years. I still avoid driving into cities and prefer to take public transport.
During Frienduary I recommended BetterPoints to friends from my walking football group and my constituency party.
I think I'll spend my 100,000 BetterPoints at IKEA and donate some to Alzheimer Scotland.
Look out for our National Walking Month in May, when we'll be celebrating the fantastic health benefits of walking with daily prize draws and a virtual walk.
